Today's Motivation - Time
“Time is more valuable than money. You can
get more money, but you cannot get more time.”
- Jim Rohn

“Time is not measured by clocks but by
moments”
Time is a concept to which value is
attached by many. For the truly conscientious person, time is not to be wasted.
This type of person may very well wake up in the wee hours of the morning to
ensure he gets the most out of the period before the dawn. He may commune with
his God at this time, read or simply lay awake reflecting on his life. When the
dawn arrives, he may start his daily chores, knowing that ‘the early bird
catches the worm’.
Why is time such an important concept and
how can pondering on time help us to be motivated? Let us examine some of the activities
one can engage in with time. To begin, we need to keep in mind the fact that
when one dies, he is out of time in this world and can no longer engage with
time as he lies in his coffin. No longer can he laugh, live, love and make
changes of any sort. This fact alone should be a source of motivation to value
the time you have remaining on this earth.
Time allows for many wonderful things and
one of those is LOVE. Time allows for family members to love each other, for
someone to love a friend and for romantic love which often lead to marriage and
lifelong commitment. Time also allows for OPPORTUNITIES. Making good use of
time may cause someone life to be saved by the surgeon operating on him; it may
allow the teacher to engage his students so that they learn life skills that
will empower them to live healthy, productive lives, it may allow that author
to get his book published as well as for that parent to spend a little more
time with his cancer ridden child. Time allows for FORGIVENESS and we need
forgiveness in order to move on and lead healthy lives. Forgiveness empowers
both the forgiver and the offender. The person giving the forgiveness can feel
a burden lifted and has conscience free from hatred. The offender benefits also
by having his offence forgiven and bridges mended. Time allows for so much more
than I can explain in this post and yet there are some who neglects the value
time bring to their lives.
For those who do not value time,
procrastination is their constant bedfellow. Wastage of time can be harmful to a person, in
that it causes the person to become lazy and unproductive. Additionally, when
time to do something is postponed constantly, the consequences can become
detrimental. For example, a heart patient ignoring to take his medication on
time and postponing going to the doctor for his regular check-ups, may suddenly
get a massive heart attack and die. Many believe they have time, only to
realize that that time becomes shortened when they are diagnosed with poor
health. Exercise which should have been a constant in time when the body would
have used it to improve one’s health, now becomes tiresome as one ages. The
good news is it is never too late to start. Let us be encouraged to value time
rather than waste it. Be blessed
